Frequently asked questions

How long does it take for delivery?

We offer 3 delivery options when you check out: Express (within 5 working days), Faster (within 10 working days) and Standard (28 days). Please note that working days do not include weekends and bank holidays. Standard delivery starts at £5.95.

It really helps us if you let us know when you require your item, regardless of what delivery option you choose, so that we can place it in priority order. Just add a message when you reach the checkout or send us a text!

For Express and Faster deliveries we use Parcelforce* (*UK Mainland only – we may have to use an alternative courier if you are located in Highlands, Islands or Northern Ireland – please also allow 2-3 extra days for delivery to these areas). 

Whichever option you choose, we will send you a tracking number as soon as your order is ready for dispatch. Please contact us if you do not receive a tracking number.

If you have any specific instructions for delivery such as where to leave your parcel if you will not be at home, please add a note when you place your order or send a text message or email.

Do you ship outside the UK?

We currently ship within the UK. We can provide quotes for further afield, please contact us at hello@victoriaplumdesigns.co.uk or text 07748 112900.

I have not received a confirmation email for my order?

An email confirming your order is automatically sent to the email address you provided when you made your purchase. Sometimes emails can end up in junk files; please check here. If you still can’t find an email please send us a message and we will re-send it.

Help, I've logged in to your website but I can't find the order I placed?

In order to access your order details you will need to have set up an account prior to your order. Only details of orders placed AFTER you have set up an account will be available for view by the customer. Don’t panic if you can’t find your order details, just send us a message and we will send you a copy.

Can I change the details on my stool or chair after I have placed an order?

This isn’t usually a problem unless we have actually began to engrave the stool or chair. Unless you have ordered last minute you will have time to change your details or the actual design of the stool or chair. Just send us a message!

Can I send the gift to a different address?

Yes, simply fill in the delivery address accordingly. We also offer gift wrap which is perfect to add to your order if you are sending direct to the recipient.

What if I am not at home when the courier delivers my order?

The courier may leave the parcel somewhere secure on your property, or with a neighbour (unless you request otherwise). If you have specific instructions for delivery please send us a message. It also helps to provide a mobile contact number for the courier.

Help! It's Tuesday and I need a Christening gift by Friday?

We get asked this all the time! Most of the time we can squeeze you in but please bear in mind couriers are not 100% reliable when leaving orders until the last minute. Please call us on 07748 112900 if your order is urgent.

Can I collect the stool or chair in person?

Yes, you can save delivery charges (and benefit from a small discount) when you collect from our premises via prior appointment. Just ask for details.

Are there any restrictions for the number of letters on a stool or chair?

Since we engrave everything by hand there are no real restrictions for the top of the stool or chair however please bear in mind the letters will decrease in size according to the amount. Please contact us if you need to add more letters to the small message on the underside of a stool or chair. This is currently restricted on the website due to the available area for engraving, however we can usually fit more letters provided the underside message isn’t too lengthy.

Can I use a different font for the letters on the stool or chair?

Yes, just send us a link and we’ll let you know whether the font is suitable.

Can I have capital letters on the stool or chair?

Yes, just ask (although we think lower case does look better!).

Can I see a preview of the stool or chair before it is sent?

We can send you a picture of a draft pencil layout before we burn and engrave, just ask. We can also send you a picture of the completed item if you are sending the gift direct to the recipient.

Can I choose my own image for a stool or chair?

Yes, there is an option to purchase using your own design. Please send us your image for approval.

How do I care for my stool or chair?

Your stool or chair has been finished with a light coat of Danish Oil which gives a non-glossy layer of protection against small scratches, sticky fingers and spillages. You may notice an initial odour from the oil. This should subside fairly quickly however we recommend leaving the stool in a ventilated room until the odour has passed. Danish oil also brings out the beauty in the grain of the wood and helps to keep the wood in strong condition. It is certified as toy and food safe.

To wipe away any spillages or sticky finger marks we recommend using a damp cloth or baby wipe immediately (do not soak the wood). If your stool or chair suffers from any deeper scratches, pen marks or stains these can be treated by sanding that area with a very light sandpaper and a re-application of Danish Oil with a dry cloth. Take care not to sand over any engraved or painted areas.

It is recommended that you store your stool or chair away from strong sunlight as this can cause the engraving to fade over the years. To keep your stool or chair in tip-top condition we also recommend using it away from areas where there is risk of splashing water and areas with extreme temperatures such as next to hot radiators, which could cause the natural wood to swell and crack.

You can continue to look after the stool or chair and maintain its beauty by re-applying Danish Oil on a yearly or when-needed basis.
